Great article on Acai, and agree about the sambazon acai products and quality compared to others. Seems like these guys pretty much are responsible for getting acai out there beyond south america and care about keeping the quality and health properties high. I take their powder and sometimes the pills when I travel, and also love their fresh juice blends when I can get them.

I'm enjoying a Bolthouse BomDia Acai Pomegranite - Acai is the top ingredient (not for concentrate). What should I be looking for in ingredients to make sure I'm getting some decent Acai?
Also, if there are omega3s, shouldn't I see SOME fat content in the RDA label?

Very good post! I too am a fan of the Sambazon Acai products and have featured them on my blog, although I have to admit I haven't tried the PowerScoop. I'll definitely be giving that one a try as well.

Good article. I've tried many of the juices myself, and the Sambazon smoothie at Planet Smoothie. Regardless of whether or not it's good, I just like the taste of it.
If you're interested in reviewing more acai products as you mentioned, there is a new acai powder product available called AcaiGogo (http://www.acaigogo.com). Same idea of the powder, only in individual packets for mixing in drinks. A sample can be arranged to be sent over.

Hi to all,
I am taking the LiquMins Acai. I feel very good right after the first drink. I found it at the WholeFoods store at the price of 27 dollars for the 32 oz bottle, but if we order online with vitacost the price is lots better, it's like 17 dollars per bottle. I am going to get the power at Sambazon for the convenience to carry around, on my trip or to work.

The reads like a commercial for Sambazan. If you did a comparison, show it. What other products were tested. Why did Sambazan come out first? And get the links to their product sales website out of your article. Provide links to everyones products.
This article is disgraceful.

Thanks to all of you for posting the great information regarding other excellent Acai sources...we too have since tried several other Acai brands/sources and agree that there are now several good sources out there, which is great for everyone...particularly when the sourcing is done right (organic, locally processed, etc.).
Per comment from Larry: you raise a great point that our article does appear strongly Sambazon-biased! There's a reason for that though...and that's because we are (still) Sambazon-biased overall, as they are still our favorite Acai source, per reasons cited in the article, and it's not just BrainReady that feels this way about Sambazon when it comes to Acai as Sambazon is still widely regarded as having the best end-to-end system/processing/sourcing practices/eco-friendly and local economy-friendly practices/overall best-tasting and highest ORAC levels Acai out there. And we included links to their products as a quick way for people to get them, per multiple requests from BrainReady readers, as we originally did not include links to their products in the first rev of the article.
But you raise a great point that we should also include links to other great Acai sources to appear more balanced, and actually we did include information about Bolthouse/BomDia Acai and other Acai in our follow-up piece on Acai in our Podcast #7 for exactly this reason. But it should be in the Blog piece as well.
Thanks for raising the issue, and to all of you who have responded with additional sources and comments!

You are Sambazon biased? That is your excuse? C'mon.
You say you did a comparison, and yet I don't see mention of a single product other than Sambazon nor do I see any reference to any actual test data.
How about some comparison chart showing how Monavie and Amazon Thunder stacked up to Sambazon? Why aren't their products eco-friendly? Monavie may have issues with such a statement, based on their marketing claims.
Your article isn't biased. It is an advertisement. And a fairly sad commentary on your website.

Hi Larry: appreciate your comments and (per earlier post) agree that our article does appear strongly biased in favor of Sambazon, which is completely true because we are indeed big fans of their products (particularly the freeze-dried powder, and juice blends). a couple points regarding your last post: 1) we never said that there aren't other eco-friendly Acai companies, as there are now several, particularly the efforts by BomDia as we have discussed in our Podcasts. But from our checking into several other Acai sources, and we won't mention names because we're not out there to cast a negative light on specific companies whose products do have various merits, there's just frankly no comparison to Sambazon...particularly with regard to the deep local, active presence that Sambazon has established in South American with local harvesters dedicated to organic Acai harvesting, fair wages for the workers, eco-friendly practices there, and state-of-the-art processing of the berries after picked. Frankly, Sambazon has been very open and forthcoming about their operations...and by comparison, the other Acai providers we've explored have not, and some smack of money-oriented MLM (multi-level marketing) endeavors designed to cash in on the Acai hype (while others like BomDia are Sambazon-like in philosophy).
Further, it's no secret that dozens of "other" Acai product makers out there use...guess what, Sambazon Acai in their products and state this very proudly as a badge of honor for the same reasons we've cited. It's just great, top-of-the-line Acai, and that's why so many supplement and juice product makers get their Acai from Sambazon, not from anyone else.
Lastly: we really love the variety of products that they offer...from the freeze-dried powder to the mixes to the pill form to the refrigerated juices and blends available in many stores; wide variety, good availability, high standards, organic/eco-friendly/sustainable practices/great taste.
Oh, and regarding your comment about including a comparison chart: you are right-on, this would have been ideal. Unfortunately, we nixed this idea when we could not get reliable ORAC levels to do a relevant comparison, and then there was a significant issue with publicly casting other Acai companies in any kind of negative light that could be misconstrued or blown into an unnecessary debate. The caveat of this is that our article comes off as an "ad for Sambazon" as you said. And we're okay with outwardly promoting them because we like their stuff, they aren't paying us anything (no free products or anything!) for such a glowing writing.
The best situation would be is for other Acai product makers to contact us and show us how/why they are as good or better than Sambazon -- we'd love that and would share the info with the BrainReady audience! We're open and waiting. Until then, we're big fans of Sambazon and BomDia, and per many comments we've heard from users here and elsewhere it sounds like the LiquiMins product is also excellent....so, lots of good choices out there, not just Sambazon.
Regard,
-The BrainReady Team

I actually side with brainready here and found their article very informative, not like an ad for sambazon and even if they do like sambazon best, that is good to know because at least it serves as a starting point for which ones to try and then make up your own mind!
Reading elsewhere about acai confirmed pretty much everything brainready is saying about both acai and sambazon too.

Thank you so much for the info you have given. It has helped me make my decision about which product to try. I have tried Mona Vie, while it was good I felt I wasn't getting the amount of acai that would be better for me healthwise. I didn't feel you were pushing sambazon. Thanks again for an informative insight to the acai berry and for helping me realize I can get more benefits from the acai berry in a better product and one that won't break my bank account. Keep up the good work!!!!

Hi there, I recently learned about this new Acai blend product called Mona Vie (www.monavie.com) that is supposed to be the very best Acai blend with other superfood fruits. If anyone has tried it or know anything about it, it'd be great if you share your experience.
Thanks!

I just jumped on the Acai wagon recently and absolutely love the stuff. I've been using the BomDia Acai/Pomegranate blend this past little while, but have been looking for something with more of a kick. I had been looking at MonaVie and Amazon Thunder, but wasn't completely satisfied with what my research revealed. Especially with MonaVie. I then found out about Sambazon and I love everything they're doing for the Acai harvesting community and how open they are about their ORAC unit scores and everything else about their manufacturing process. The Powder is what I'm looking at getting since I live in Canada and the cold options are listed as only available in the U.S.
Great article by the way, very informative and completely reinforced everything I had been researching about Acai and Sambazon.
Regards,
Jay
