This tradition sounds truly lovely! Reminds me of my childhoods in St. Louis when my family would pack up the station wagon and drive 1,000+ miles to Cape Cod. Ironically enough, Sweets, SoMi and I are making a tradition of packing up the SUV and driving to the Cape over the summers now. Some traditions are meant to be kept!
