Wait. This really happens? I haven't been blogging for long and when I did before, it was always private or within friends, so this is the first time I've really done this publicly.
This behavior (people chasing others off the internet), I've seen on internet message boards before, but never to the extent of people feeling they had to leave. Is it because there's more at stake personally because with blogs, there are more risks because of information shared?
It is sad though that some people do mistaken the internet world for real life experiences. This is not to say that the internet friendships that are made are not vital, but there can be something insubstantial about it because it feels as though anyone could make themselves out to be anyone they desire through the anonymous nature of the internet.

It is funny how people seem to spit off such tripe like "don't write if you can't handle the criticism". It takes guts to put yourself out there, and there are real people behind these shiny pages.
