jenn, you do win something. espeically cuz my surprise was essentially worthless to you. i'll think of a good prize.
cheryl, i'm glad you agree! although i bet i'll be complaining about late nights, early mornings, barking and the like eventually we'll see.

Pup Vizla is going to. Change. Your. Life. More than you ever expected. Sweets and I thought about dogs for a long time. We wrote all kinds of stuff on paper - everything from our schedules to the cost of owning a dog. We had it all thought out. And SoMi still threw us for a loop. She is honest to goodness a part of our family.
Let me know if you have any questions about dog ownership, particularly in Chicago. I have all sorts of (unwarranted) advice I'm sure I'll share over the coming months.
PS - Good thing you plan on taking the pup running with you - I hear that breed is also high energy!

you're not crazy. promise. however, i can tell you right now that my puppy is like my child. ever since one dog has been sick and the little one has become extremely high maintenance i worry about him when i'm not home. yeah, even when i'm out drinking and having a grand old time i seriously wonder if my dog is okay. haha. it seems dumb, but i've never loved anything selflessly like this before. i'm excited for you.

I'm really only concerned with getting to rub my face on that dog. I mean, that's not too weird is it?

Aww, that's so precious! It is really hard, I have to say. But you will have so much fun. Bowie is only five months and she's pretty hard to deal with and has been for a while. But I love her all the same.
My old roommate's dog is the one that was pregnant with Bowie. At first I was set on not taking one of the pups, because I have all these ambitions, like to travel around the world. But as soon as those pups were born, I was definitely like, "Yeah, I'm taking one." I couldn't help it!
I've made it work though and Bowie is seriously the best thing that has ever happened to me.

A vizsla will be a great running partner but remember the first year he will be growing like a weed and you don't want to overstress his growth plates!!! A vizsla will change your life in unimaginable ways. Our Rocket is a "two a day" dog. He needs a good romp in the a.m. and another one in the p.m. May I suggest you start visiting doggie day cares?? these services will be invaluable on the -10F days!!! Trust me on that one or just do the math $25/day for day care or $2,500 for a new couch ..... You can visit Rockets Adventures at www.RioRocket.blogspot.com Something to think about is agility. I wish to god I would have started sooner with Rocket. Vizslas need that "mental challenge".

Your life will change and it will be for the better, by far. It was never even a consideration of mine to get a dog or not, it was the instant I had an apartment that would allow me to have a dog I was running off to the pound to get one. The unconditional love that Olivia has brought into my life is amazing. And of course, with a puppy there will always be those "mistakes" and other things that might make you want to pull your hair out, but it is so worth it in the end. Good luck with him. I can't wait to see updated pictures as he grows.
And vizslas are amazing no matter what. Perfect size, perfect temperament. AND SO. AMAZINGLY. CUTE!

YOU ARE NOT CRAZY! I think he's adorable! Getting a puppy = VERY GOOD!
He looks like a sammy, or a sam. Or harry. or khan. Sorry. I'm all for corny names for dogs.
