haha. when i'd come home from chicago i'd be overwhelmed by the amount of asian people. this coming from someone who is technically asian pacific islander.
welcome back to socal. have lots of fun and may the self-abuse lead to some crazy blog worthy stories. 
My "token Asian friend" (her coined phrase, not mine) would love your Asians everywhere comment.

I do love california airports too. I blend in! Especialy in san francisco.
I love people watching in airports. There's always so much going on.
I really like airports too. They are good for people watching. I always buy magazines and candy (for later in the day flights) at the airport. Even though I pay way more for them, it's like a tradition.
Man, you must be a sadist. I hate airports with a passion. All they remind me of is missed connections and canceled flights.
Not in San Diego but have fun for me too. And though I rarely go a couple days without reading your blog, I missed your "birthday tribute"...thank you and needless to say, the feelings are mutual...except for the "greasy" part - what the hell was that about? “Disheveled” would have been my word of choice but it’s your blog! Furthermore, I work hard to look this disheveled...love...2

and i love, love, love your idea of purchasing a book while at the airport and putting the destination and date in each book cover. LOVE. i may have to steal this from you. for sure. =) don't worry, i'll add a little asterik too, and write: (stolen from d. don't you forget it.)
and i too love airports. but i'm obsessed with people watching. blame the little sociologist in me.
d, as i am a semi-member of the asian community, i endorse this 'kind' of racism (favoritism?). 
also, social networks are part of what i do here at work (hunting them down and learning what they do and reporting the research). i bet i could find some you're not currently on so that you could possibly sign up.
And I'm pretty sure I've experienced the range of human emotion in airports too - happy, crying, stressed out, relaxed, etc. They should have therapists on call at every bookstore in major airports.
love airports too (which is probably why i think i like flying, but it's really just the airports i enjoy). i have also never (knock on wood) been stranded in an airport or overly delayed on a flight, so i have quite the rosy view of the whole thing.
i'm in the middle of "in defense of food" and i love it. am telling everyone to read it.
