I often wish my ex would put into words how you've felt. He did, in a sense. But it's still hard to go your separate ways.

I think the "does he/she miss me like I miss him/her?" question is one of the most intensely painful.
I broke up with a guy I dated for over two years on 06/09/07. He said not to contact him, and that he'd get in touch with me when he was ready. Since then, I haven't gotten an email. I've gotten about 10 text messages (wishing me a happy new year and the like). The only phone call lasted for about 60 seconds when I freaked out that he may have been injured in the NIU shooting (he goes there). Other than that... I'm still waiting.
He was my best friend. And then he shut me out of his life completely.
Somewhere around December, I stopped caring.

Really great representation of the human-ness that entails these kinds of circumstances. You can't see it, but I am definitely learning something from this.

angela - it sounds like you're in the blackout mode, and to be honest, with guys friends who handle this type of stuff differently than i would, sometimes a guy just has to leave the past in his past. guy's are intensely emotional that way.
nico - thanks, a bunch. it's not easy sometimes to explore all this, but it's worth it if i think people gain something when they read it.

Ah geez...this one hits me too. Had a 3 year relationship go sour pretty quickly that I had to break it off. That was 2 years ago.
I'm over it but I still care. I shouldn't.
That had to have been hard to write. My ex and I broke up in January and it wound up becoming a shitty breakup. I still want to text him when I see something that I think he would want to know about.
