Wow. I have heard of similar problems with Word documents in the past. If you used "fast save" it kept all the old stuff and just stored the changes.

I think there was also a problem with Word docs sometimes bringing along random information that was in the rest of the disk block. Since that would be whatever was writtent there last, it could be anything.
