Otherwise, as for the Jesus followers, the Jews, even for the Buddhists and Hindoos the main distinction for me is that none of these other enemies of humanity have threatened/attempted to kill me or to force the more onerous portions of their dogma upon me by force.

You don't need to be able to read the holy books to be religious, though. In fact, the spiritual leaders prefer it if you can't. Why allow the flock to think, when they are so much more pliant as members of the illiterati?
I understand your position vis-à-vis organized proselytizers, Alex. I can't argue with your premises, and I respect your analysis. But I can't go along with banning such behavior. It should be enough that such aggressive religious recruitment not be protected by the law. They wouldn't be so pesky if you could make them knock it off yourself without worrying about getting arrested.
I guess I just dislike the thought of making one more human action illegal when there are so many, many things out there that need to be made legal again.

First, there's no correlation between donestic murder or auto accidents and terrorist deaths.
Second, if people want to wait till the domestic death toll reaches over 15K before "doing something" then it's a lost cause already. Islamist parasitism isn't about how many of you they kill...it's about how many of you they control. If you don't believe that, you're not paying attention.
I spent 10 years in the middle east and I can tell you that the "nuke 'em all" crowd isn't half-cocked or crazy. Some of them my be knee-jerking but they're all fundamentally correct. There will be no end, no peace, no truce, no common ground. They want it their way, or their way, no matter what.

I am tired of hearing people say they support the troops but then say we should run from conflicts.
Just because you profess that we should not be involved, doesn't not mean you have the right to profess treason.
Just because YOU are cowards, does not mean you should project your own gutlessness upon men and women who have decided otherwise.
Our troops deserve a united country, when they go into battle to defend us. They go to defend every one of us, even the cowards.
It is THEY who deserve the patriotism. It is THEY who deserve all our efforts to fund them. It is THEY who deserve to have a little backbone in the citizenry for which they fight.
Some of you feel that because you believe Bush lied, we are all terrorists for invading Iraq and we are just big bullies on the world stage that you have the right to undermine our leaders. You are not supporting anyone or anything except your own selfish ends.
Your means will never justify those ends.
Whether you agree with the premise that there is great and gathering evil in this world that will require all of us great sacrifices in the very near future or not, THESE soldiers are heroically doing what their predecessors have done in ages past.
They are defending what is our way of life. I suggest that if you do not wish our way of life to continue, you should move.
