For voters to advise and remind their elected officials, like prosecutors, of the priorities they would like them to apply on the job is just good citizenship. I also think people like the lady who e-mailed Mr. Bruning deserve answers to the kinds of questions she raised, even if they aren't Nebraska voters.

Shuffling criminals who break the law in Nebraska off on other states just because, if they walk, they will walk, is wrong. The world has become too small for exile to work. If Monetti gets off easy here, he will no doubt go back East. He won't come to Nebraska for his internet kid sex again. He isn't that dumb.

But he still thinks he hasn't done anything wrong. If we just scrape him off our shoes with a sentence that will just send him packing, justice is not served, not for the victims and not for the people of the State of Nebraska. Even the abstract concept of justice would be offended were Monetti to be set free on the public anywhere. At least not anytime soon.

In the good old days, cats bailed out on charges of kiddie rape would have to watch their backs. Brothers, Dads and Uncles were unwittingly socialized with gender specific role modeling back then. This unenlightened brainwashing included the odd notion that men ought to be protective of women and children.

It wasn't uncommon for these clockwork oranges of manhood and chivalry to go looking for some answers on their own. Directly from the perp.

The only place such barbaric notions of manliness can still be found is in our prisons and jails. You know how well received molesters are in the joint.

Interestingly, while we won't let our kids pray in public schools, we freely allow our convicts to pray in our jails.
