Cob Pile

As a grad student (aka slave labor to academia), I have to grudgingly admit that I couldn't live without my union benefits. We want our future professors to have working teeth at the age of 40, right? =)

Alex, the kind of union you belong to hardly counts as a real one. Its more like a mutual aid society. A sissy union, as it were. I don't think the leadership has any active Marxist scheme nor the potential for implementing a pesky oligarchy.

I don't have any more unpleasant interactions with the rank and file than I do with non union cats. Its the union leaders with a scheme or plan that involves me that I don't care for one bit. I also hate to pay 'dues' for anything, but that is just the tightwad in me.

PT, the anti-sissy. I thought I was smart for purifying my drinking beyond what the city does. When PT comes to visit he pours himself a glass of chlorine from the tap and sneers at me for drinking "sissy water".

Yup, fair pay, treated right...those are all things unions give that we dont need/
