Cob Pile

I have to agree with you on this wind power thing. Alright for some farmer to put up a small one to avail himself of some power but I would not want one of the monster windmills within sight of my home.

Nuke power is the way to go. But I don't want one within 400 miles of my home. Other than that, I am fine with it.

I recently learned that my third-cousin's son is a maintenance man at the wind farm south of Ainsworth, NE. (See "In the hills of Nebraska, change is on the horizon" -- NY Times login required.) I was glad to hear that he has a steady, full-time job -- for now, anyway.

Of course, you are right, Genevieve. "It's an ill wind that blaws naebody any gude." I'm always glad when a buck gets earned.

400 miles, CG? You'd better set up a fallout shelter! Or at least get one of these NBC suits.

Pickens has been all over tv & radio lately. Today I heard him talking about the "corridor" from N.Dakota south. Said he was putting up a trillion dollars from the private sector. Said the tax payers don't need to "worry" about it. That's what worries me.

Could turn out like Omaha's new baseball stadium with no ball team to put into it.

At best it's an alternative. At worst it's an al-gore.

Dang it, pt ... have we been drinking from the same well? I put up a post on Pickens et al and jumped on over here to see what you were up to ... only to discover you scooped me by 24 hours.

Ah well ... I guess it won't hurt that two of us are sounding the klaxon over T. Boone's latest shenanigan.

BTW ... good to have you back.

I'm just getting around to perusing my favorite blogs again. No sooner than I reconciled myself to some 'new' health issues, than my hopped-up computer choked on Bill Gates' Service Pack 3 for XP. Its running again, but unstable, about like me.

Only the 117th richest man in America? Booney's going to have to stick a lot of windmills in the ground to catch up to Bill Gates and Ted Turner.

I'm the previous 'anonymous' commenter. Didn't realize my name had slipped off Haloscan.

Actually PTG, I am 160 miles from a nuclear power plant. As a Canada Goose flies. So I guess I should get a lead lined suit.

Canuckguy,

Maybe Dadgum can loan you his tinfoil helmet.

I'd like to help out, Abe, but it's in the shop getting upgraded with Obamamania filters. Might need 'em after the election.

Abe...your name is familiar from somewhere. Well it'll probably come to me when I get that tinfoil helmet back.

The helmet won't help with Obamania: it's in the water. :)

Dadgum drinks only filtered, distilled water. No foolin'. He knows the Democrats in Iowa have been drugging the tap water for decades.

He should be OK, then, until the Obamaniacs find him. I understand the infection runs its course about 28 days later. :)
