These are great tips. I don't garden as much as I used to, though I wish I could make my yard a showplace. Maybe someday I can use more of these ideas.

I never have much luck with gardening, although I can grow lettuce just fine. I think anyone can grow lettuce, LOL! This is the first year I'm starting tomatoes from seeds. I don't know if I'm doing it right, but it's fun trying!

I liked your tips. I do start my seeds too. Getting pernnials for others is harder to do around here believe it or not. So send some my way.
I liked the idea about the windmill. I'll have to try that one.

Newspapers. The work great as mulch, and you can also use them to fashion free "peat" pots. The easiest way to do this is to take a small empty soup can and cut off both ends. Lay it on newspaper (the smaller, free advertising papers you can find work great) about 3/4 ways up the can, then roll it up. Tuck the short end into the can and slide the "pot" off the metal can.
I used these a lot last year for the first time and they held up very well for tomatoes.

The banana peel is a very brilliant idea! I have new rose plants and I'm so worried that they're dying already. The flowers are wilting and we haven't put fertilizer yet to save money. I will take your advise regarding banana peel!
