This chart only shows that the U.S. has higher health costs than the trend for it's average life expectancy. Perhaps the reason for this is because of the more costly procedures that are done in this country because we have a fairly large population of very skilled doctors and more expensive and robust medical equipment. This chart does not tell me that we have unnecessarily high medical costs. Maybe people in the U.S. just spend more because there are more hypochondriacs... There are plenty of explanations that are actually more believable to me.


Not to mention it's 5 years old...
