On a semi-related note: It burns when I pee.

film// 'Amelie' put out by Miramax, It is an absolutely enchanting work.
short story// Voltaire's 'Micromegas', a humorous journey of wit and subterfuge. Warning, it is an older piece, and often time and cultural specific.
book// 'The Silmarillion' by JRR Tolkien. Yes, technically, the work is a fantasy, but it's a good one. And the collection of short stories will prepare you for The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, which truely is the most magnificent piece of medieval mythological adventure available. (For the sake of this post, forget about the Pete Jackson films.)
Enjoy

(ouch! my sypathies to the tummy-burning incident).
The lady at the bookstore I went to recommended a book called "The Falling Woman," but that's the only one I remember. I like Ray bradbury's short stories too.

I'm not much of a sci-fi gal, but as for foreign films - anything Pedro Almodovar comes up with seems to be a blast. Try an Almodovar film fest. Start with Women of the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, whip up some gaspacho & let the hilarity ensue!

Danielle, this is off-topic, but I just thought I'd share:
I've only been living in my house for 4 days, and today as I was cooking scrambled eggs, I somehow managed to lean too closely to the stove burning my stomach--that little area between the shirt and the jeans where the tummy shows. Now there's a red welt there and it still stings.
Sound familiar?
