There's a party in the cupboard

When cats ingest Vicks Vapo-rub or Tiger Balm or anything with that ammount of eucalyptus, they start temporarily gushing drool out of their mouths. It's like they can't swallow. I first noticed that when I had a cold years ago and my cat licked my hand. Apparently I still had some eucalyptus on it. Could that be what happened to yours?

Gravatar That random insult thing is working out pretty well for ya, isn't it? Well, my cat DOES have herpes (and I thought my roommates had already run the gamut of the related crass jokes, but nope, you win. Congrats!) which appeared in the form of an upper respiratory infection about a year go. It might be that the infection is recurring, or maybe he just ate a centipede. I got a lot of those.

Thanks so much for doing the research, in any case. As for "Flippy's Cat Page," at least it's better than "Flippy Scat Page," which is what I thought it said at first.

http://www.flippyscatpage.com/dr...m/ drooling.html (not sure how trustworthy "Flippy's Cat Page" is)

So if the drooling (what an awful word, by the way--I hope to the LORD that it's not onomatopoeic) keeps up and it's easy to take him to a vet I guess it might be a good idea. Otherwise maybe just look for irritation in or around his mouth and keep an eye on eating habits and all that. It looks like it could easily be nothing, so don't worry too much. Anyhow, good luck! Hopefully the cat just ate a lizard or something, but having heard about your household's loose morals (wait a second, don't cats like tuna fish? Hmm...), I wouldn't rule out herpes.
