Quasar- I haven't stopped by yet to wish you and yours some very merry for the holidays! Here's to you and the beautiful stars in the sky, old, new and exotic. You definitely get our minds way, way out of the shenanigans on our planet. It is always a welcome respite.

Where do you keep finding these things?!
Beautiful to behold indeed.
What makes these objects spins so fast?
It's hard to believe these things are caused naturally.

Hi dad2059,
either they were sent into a spin when they became neutron stars, and/or the magnetic fields keep them in a spin.

lol Candoor,
as long as it is only one crappy day. Mind you it works the other way too, one can endure 364 bad or mediocre days, as long as One day is great and makes up for the rest.
May the New Year bring much loving & fun.

I never knew stars had heartbeats, that's a wonderful thought/
I was reading today that Stephen Hawking might be flying to the moon on the Virgin flight next year, isn't he a remarkable guy.
Happy New Year Q9 to you and your family.
Thank you for your support throughout the year.

Many thanks Q9.
My memory might be at fault but I think I read somewhere that Stephen Hawking, though he wrote an allegedly interesting book, was a bit.. difficult and a bit of a bastard to his wife. Who knows, Mrs Hawking might think the moon a good place for him! Though remarkable he may be I can't help noting that 'great minds' might not necessarily be nice people..
Q9 - do you read Asimov? well thinking of him here's something I like from my fave poet, hope y'all like it:
"No, I'll not take the half..."
No, I'll not take the half of anything!
Give me the whole sky! The far-flung earth!
Seas and rivers and mountain avalanches--
All these are mine! I'll accept no less!
No, life, you cannot woo me with a part.
Let it be all or nothing! I can shoulder that!
I don't want happiness by halves,
Nor is half of sorrow what I want.
Yet there's a pillow I would share,
Where gently pressed against a cheek,
Like a helpless star, a falling star,
A ring glimmers on a finger of your hand.
