Breath-taking as always.
I love a majestic work of art!
I don't mean to be impertinent, but have you attempted your own?
I used to have a camera and telescope when I was a young pup, but I never could get the knack of it.

It's all so very pretty up there. I'd like to be able to space walk just to see the heavens from another planet. It would be (literally) to die for!

Hi dad2059,
though as a young pup I translated books on light & optics, and I have in the distant past done some short films and video work, I must confess nowdays I don't even have a digital camera, hence I'm always resorting to other people's pics.
For astrophotography I resort to APoD, my favourites being Mischa Schirmer, this one from Stephane Guisard, and these ones from astrogranada. Fraser Cain also has some great astrophotographers @ Universe Today, on his Astrophere series.
Here's wishing you a star-filled weekend!

Hi Naj, Thanks!
Well Persians do have a long history of astrogazing, after all the Magi were said to be astrologer kings. I have never watched the skies from Iran, but I suspect the views must be truly amazing. Maybe I shall be able to get some astrophotography from Iran. If you come across any online please let me know.
Here's wishing you a Magical Weekend. All the best!

it is not only space walking I'd like to do with you. A Tango in Space, now that would really be to die for.
Here's wishing you a dreamy weekend!

Those photos are awesome, but scanning the night sky with a telescope or even binoculars is also quite satisfying and immediate - no need to develop film. Scorpius is full of globular clusters and other beautiful objects.

That's cool. I used to go with a friend of mine and look at the stars. He had a truck that was made for 4x4ing and we would go out to the sand dunes, where there was no city light. We would bring this astronomy book with us and look for the images.. but we never got to see this one. Even though it was summer.. the scorpion elluded us.

Hi Pandabonium, one can't beat scanning the skies and taking a look at the beauty for oneself.
But astrophotography does enable one to bring the manificent sights online for those looking in closer on earth.
Here's wishing you a funfilled weekend

Hi Xmichra,
Scorpius appears prominently in the southern skies, but it is great to go out to the sand dunes away from the city lights to take a better look at the star filled skies. Mind you being with you, would be like being with the brightest star of all.

It is hard to believe that anyone has a good enough camera to get these kinds of picturs of the stars. I know mine doesn't, I tried getting one of the moon, and it wasn't that great.
how have you been,

Hi Vishesh, indeed finding age old zodiacal patterns or making new ones among the stars at night is always fun.
Hope you had a great weekend too!

Hi Nea, though hand held gigapixel digital cameras can give us awesome pictures of things nearby (or not so close), one still needs a more powerful zoom or telescope the further one hopes to see (detect and photograph).
