what if everything we have found till now is wrong?
What would be the right answer for this question-if by mistake a ammeter is connected in parallel instead of series what would be the reading of the ammeter?
a)a high value
b)no value
c)the value depends on how we adjust the rheostat.
this question was asked in an exam and
the problem is the teacher is saying that there will be no value, but since ammeter doesnt have resistance the answer shld be a but the teacher says that practially speaking ammeter to has a a little resistance as all the objects have resisatce-so this implies
that it shld be c..but she says it is still a..
what is the right answer??

I like the way scientists are able to measure through their calculations. .. with winds and rays... particles...
that said I either need coffee or a nap!

Hi Vishesh,
Have a look at the LHC game. Enjoy!
One problem with the use of an ammeter is the need for the meter to be inserted into the circuit and become part of it.
Mistakenly placing the ammeter in parallel with a circuit will blow the fuse, possibly damaging the meter and causing injury. In AC circuits, a current transformer converts the magnetic field around a conductor into a small AC current, typically either 1 or 5 Amps at full rated current, that can be easily read by a meter. In a similar way, accurate AC/DC non-contact ammeters have been constructed using Hall effect magnetic field sensors.
What do you mean if everything we've found till now is shown to be wrong?
You mean if theories are wong, because they are based on wrong assumptions?
The speed of light may have been different in the distant past, and may change again - but the speed of light is an 'accurate' measure today.
Of course it is 'we' on Earth have defined what a metre is, and what a second is, to give us metres per second

Hi Katie, many assumptions go into the equations - but it is the nature of Man to want to know rhe measure of things - how they come to be and how they can be harnessed or used.
After all we 'harness' horses too, and the term horsepower was invented by James Watt before the SI unit for power, became the watt (W).

Hi Hill Country Gal,
the distant and not so distant universe creates awesome forces, some men try to recreate or harness these forces on earth - and use them for war and destruction too.

Quasar,
You have some kind of galactic brain latching onto the whole of the universe ... I am in awe ... sadly this mind cannot comprehend non-the-less it is great that we do have someone like you to discuss it with all these budding scientists. I love the colour and the vibrancy. The stars and the moon that remind her of Love. She smiles ... thank you for sharing your great mind.

What's that Dr John,
You had a one on one with this pulsar one thousand year ago.
Must have been a fascinating dialogue, with much to tell from 10,000 years before.

Just passing through to say hi, as I continue to race through the universe this week.
I did notice something interesting though - your side links are arranged (for the most part) short to long in each section. Very cool - do you do that on purpose?

Hi Q,
liked the LHC game
I ended up reading about pulsars(again!) (hmmm... when one is not using what one reads, one tends to forget it... but every time one reads, there is something more that is understood... or is it something else that is understood and forgotten again?? )
have a scintillating time Quasar

Interesting! That reminds me I meant to write a piece about gamma-ray bursts, should finish that at some point. Just out of curiosity: you hava a telescope on your own, or a nearby observatorium?
(My husband has a telescope - since he lives in the city center however, there's too much light emission to see much, but if he's bored he uses it to watch the late-shift workers in the office buildings )
- have a nice evening,
B.

Hi Sunflower Optimism, Yes!

Hi Bee,
Mullard observatory
As you know Cambridge is not a large industrial City, and we often enjoy clear skies all around Anglia.
Yesterday after six one could see each individual star "appearing" (almost like clockwork) in the blue evening sky as the day turned to night.
So Stefan, likes looking at evening workers and celestial bodies closer to earth does he.
Nowdays One can get 'caught' on so many cameras simply walking the street and the image relayed by satellite or google earth right across the globe

Seemingly Quasar, It has come to her notice that you do have a huge gathering of young ladies ... harem even ... Are we all starstruck with moonbeams in our eyes being sent to Mars and back, as you take us round the Universe in a capsule of beauty surrounded by vibrant colours at the speed of light. She could not resist as she lol.
