you know- you look out into the universe- and it just doesn't seem possible that we could have screwed up this planet so badly. thinking of all of the planets and stars- and galaxies- somewhere out there- there may be life forms like us. i hope if there is- they are doing a better job than we have.

our planet is surprisingly resilient, it has already undergone several cataclysms in its 'evolution' and earth will continue to spin, and revolve around the Sun for billions of years with or without us.
It is not so sad what a mess we make of the planet, as what a mess humans make of their lives. We really do live in the land of milk & honey, we just can't seem to learn to enjoy it without abusing the planet or others.

whilst in some parts of the universe galaxies are being gently drifting or being pushed apart, it is clear that in others galaxies are growing closer and merging too.
Three large galaxies merging will definitely create some island universe of vast mass & proportions.
