Why are not these solar winds utilized to propel the crafts? Power is better I suppose.

Gravatar When I saw that picture I thought it was one of those star trek creatures being pulled into the sun.

Gravatar Hi Q,
Interesting patterns on the images.

Facts absorbed. oddly, no questions this time..hmm.

Have a nice day kweizaar!

Gravatar I see a sperm trying to get to an egg...

Gravatar we care for earth and if it still going to be there...but do we care for the other planets?
funny.

what do the magnetic feild lines of stars and planets depend on?-mass??

Gravatar Hi Goatman, I guess on the way back to Earth, all solar sentinel spacecraft could hitch a free ride from solar winds.
However though space can be viewed as a vast see, the orbits around the planets make the journey more complex than sailing on the earth's surface.
Are suggesting the energy contained in the solar winds can be used to power the spacecraft, that is where research is already aiming at.

Gravatar Hi Dr John,
you mean those 'alien' entities or 'monsters' that were formed of matter, light & energy
or do you mean those magnetic forces and magnetic fields that could put the enterprise into a spin, and cause mayhem with the replicators & transport room.
Imagine ordering steak and getting charcoal - not charcoal steak, but the charcoal and no steak.
Imagine half of you being chewed up whilst your atoms and molecules were being teletransported
hmmm ... could be a popular slimming treatment

Gravatar Hi Casper, sometimes it is easier to simply let images do the talking, rather than to stimulate instant reactions - questions always follow sooner or later, there is always something more to look at & absorb, something further to see.
Nice day to you too!

Gravatar Hi Candoor, to a fried egg?
Mind you images of sperm released by human males inside a female body are pretty 'spatial' - millions released and yet only one has a chance to spawn (make a home) and maybe none.
It is a frightening thought though, if we are each the one in a million or the best in the bunch, what were the other 999,999 hopefuls like?

Gravatar Hi Vishesh, on a cosmic scale there is not a lot we can do about earth or other planets - but one should not poo on one's doorstep, and the Earth happens to be our home, and is our doorstep.
The earth is not in a vacuum - it is spinning on itself, and orbitting around the Sun, in a sea of light (electromagnetism) from solar winds, and interacting with other forces too.
As you can see from the pic, earth's magnetic fields are generated on earth, but distended or blown away from the Sun

Gravatar I am amazed!

I too believe in taking care of Mother Earth. The bottom line is that she has been so mistreated. We are responsible for the care of all of us - even if it is simply cleaning up after ourselves. If everyone took it one step further the world might improve.

Gravatar Wow! It's so easy to forget all the influences on Earth, that are invisible yet acting on us, whether continuously or sporadically!

What a great picture to remind us of our link to our star... it would be great to see a full solar system picture like that (or is what the second one is supposed to represent?)

Gravatar It's all just one big family, isn't it?

Gravatar Hi Katie, some skeptics like to joke
We take so much for granted, but our major Cities would be like sewers if we didn't have efficient garbage collection, and recycling for all the 'vosible' waste we produce, them there is the less visible pollution.

Gravatar Hi Annelisa to See or represent the whole solar system with solar winds and magnetic fields would make an awesome hologram
The new Solar System was a link from Visualising Science

Gravatar Hi Hill Country Gal,
one could say we are stardust or children of the Sun!
