Gravatar Baby universes.

Wild stuff, Q!

BTW,

Gravatar This is a very intriguing post, and far more pleasant than orc galaxies tearing up dwarfs and sucking their guts...

An event explores an infinite number of possibilities before arriving at the one that becomes "real history"?

Why is Quantum Physics starting to sound like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (specifically "improbability drive")?

Gravatar stimulating

Gravatar What makes us think this is the mature cosmos. It could be just one of the lesser paths, a ripple in the time stream, just another baby. The mature universe beyond our limited comprehension. Even beyond Stephen Hawkings creative imagination.

Gravatar Hi Hill,
nice to see ya still rockin
and going strong - lots of hugs & xxx

Gravatar lol Moody Mistrel,
I guess there is a grain of truth even in outrageous comedy.
After all even "The Life of Brain" contained its very own mysteries and half truths.

I dunno whether to book a seat in the restaurant at the end of the universe, or whether to build the restaurant and sell tickets.

Gravatar Hillbaby,
it is good to be stimulated
it feels good to be stimulated.

Gravatar Dr John,
you make a very good point
However the hard physicists who are only into matter (whether visible and/or dark) will still ask "Where is this mature universe beyond our comprehension?" - even if beyond our comprehension, as scientists they would still expect to see or measure hard evidence.

Gravatar Hey Q, how's it hangin' bro?

Wait, don't answer that, save it for the ladies! LOL!

Dr. Hawking must be mellowing in his old age, he embraced the multiple universe theories into his blackhole theories recently and now this.

Gravatar Hi dad2059,
I know the multive universe or multiverse has its appeals, but so does time travel
I think for the probable reality of the universe as is, I share Stephen Hawking's view - that we live not necessarily in the 'best' of all possible universes, but in the One and Only of all 'probable' universes.

And that is still a pretty big place to explore, with who knows what out there.
The good news is that in such a case all we need is the technology to travel 'out there'
And of course I still wouldn't discount the possibility of Time Travel, nor other realms such as the spirit world - but I can't see any spaceships landing on an imaginary heaven or any elevators coming up from the fires of hell.

Gravatar Pick me for Time Travel. Ready and rearing to go. I have 2 weeks holiday coming up ... what's that in light years according to The Lion Witch & Wardrobe Universe theory? Thats gotta be a holiday of a few thousand years surely?
I'm all packed!
I think they should run the beginnings of the Universe through a voice pattern recorder... I'm sure it would show the big guy up there saying "because I say so!"

Hmmm, reminds me of one of Isaac Asimovs' early works involving beings known as "The Eternals", who operated outside of time itself and determined a best possible "universe" for Mankind, i.e., 'Galactic Empire'.

Reality imitating art? *scratching chin*

Gravatar Hi Abigail,
I'm just popping over to Seville (Spain) for two weeks.
If you've got time we could meet up and get spontaneously entangled.

Gravatar Hi dad2059,
I'm all for beings outside of time or "Eternals" in another Realm.
However I think like beings on another galaxy in the far distance of the universe, they would have little Time or opportunity to interfere with us earthlings in the here & now.
If one is outside time, looking at a universe unfolding in linear time, it would be like being at a cinema and watching a movie on the big screen. Sure you can enjoy (or hate) the movie or even get involved in the plot, but you cannot interact with the actors nor change the plot.

And no, not quite the same as DVD games where there are a million possible outcomes already written into the program, and the player gets to choose which part he wants to play as in War Craft.
