I watched some great glass blowing demonstrations when I visited Venice - a rather long time ago now - but one of my prized possessions are some gorgeous Emerald green glass earrings that I got there. The whole process is fascinating.

Divine intervention made me find my way over to you. I am a glass collector. I have Spanish, Irish (handblown from County Wexford) and Ventian champagne flutes that I won't allow anyone to touch = let alone drink out of. I know, I know.. they need to be enjoyed. But I dont have to share them with anyone else do I?

I love to watch a glassblower in action. Come to think of it, I like watching any kind of skilled artisan practicing his or her trade. I've always had a soft spot for that, and I'm a sucker for handmade items.
There's a craft village in the town where I was born. When it was completed only about a decade ago it seemed like a lot of locals were dissing it as yet another "tourist trap". (Yes, there are a number of those on the Oregon Coast.) However, I always enjoy going there on those occasions when I'm able to visit Stateside. There are at least two glassblowing studios, and most of the shops there feature locally-made, handcrafted items of various kinds. Places like that always interest me (and sometimes pose a threat to the contents of my wallet).
Just don't let me near a place that sells handmade musical instruments...

in the glass itself
i look out my window
there is so much to see
and through the looking glass
still more fantasy
but in the glass itself
as in every single thing
the wonders that can be
can make a mind sing
when we explore the depth
beyond what eyes can see
in the glass itself
in physical reality
imagine if we explored
the depths not between
imagine if we shared the depths
within you and me
thank you quasar9
for giving
this perspective
to me
