aren't space debries dangerous to us?
why aren't we coming up with ideas to destroy them properly-maybe we can use rockets to move them away from our orbit and lauch it into space away from us..??

Hi Q,
Are we saying that the object moved from right to left? everything about the streak suggests the opposite direction... puzzled.

magical weekend to you too!

Gravatar Hi Vishesh, space debris is a risk to satellites in orbit - and sooner ot later we shall need a minesweeper to clean up. As ever it is a matter of who will pay the cost, and as with other risks such as the likelihood of being hit by a wwii mine at sea or a meteor in space, is slim until there is a collision.

Not sure dumping 'garbage' in space is ethical or environmentally sound.

Gravatar Hi Casper, apologies for the effects or illusion caused by downsizing pic on blogger.
In the slow exposure still photo by Ray Palmer I recommend clicking on image to enlarge. One can see more clearly that it starts out as a point and moves North (to the left), and is taken with the camera facing East (North to the left)
Whilst in the sequential animation (stitched video) by Gordon Garrad from another location the camera is facing West (North to the right).
All the best!

Gravatar Quasar,

Beyond the stars (u.tube) was specially for you.
Thank you for such beautiful words.
:o)

Gravatar hmmmm are they sure it wasnt E.T?

Gravatar There's always lots to wonder about when I look into the sky.

Gravatar I am sure as the decades pass, we will be seeing more and more of space debris falling back to earth. It should make an interesting light show some nights.

And who should clean up that debris. Maybe they will find a way to send up a volunteer crew, much like they do on road side cleanups, so that a few could clean up the mess of others. It would be a nice trip.

Gravatar Hi Trinity, Thanks!

Gravatar Hi BarnGoddess,
it seems it was a rocket carrying ET
Electronic Telecommunications satellite

Gravatar Hi Fernando, much to wonder, to see & ponder.
No point worrying about debris from a plane or satellite falling through your roof - but orbits are getting busy - almost as busy as take off and landing slots at some airports, with regular 'near' misses.

Gravatar lol Jimmy James,
Maybe they can get these millionaire tourists astronauts to 'volunteer' to go on space debris clearing tours.

Gravatar i am still contemplating the mystery of how john howard is surviving politically how are things q?

Gravatar oh- and i like the way your sidebar tapers- any thoughts of the new blogger?

Gravatar lol Betmo, contemplating the mystery of the stars, and the mysteries closer to earth. The Universe is full of mysteries.
Beta blogger seems to be fine, the only new thing as far as I can see is you can add labels to the posts.

Gravatar and we thought... some one else was getting interested in humans? :p

heyy Q, long time no see... how have you been?

Gravatar Yeah, I agree with Casper... it looks like its moving, comet like, from top left to bottom right.... Cool that you can see it though. I presume something like that would burn if it hit our atmosphere?

Gravatar Hi Annelisa,
In the video by Garrard the object is moving from left to right
In the still photo by Ray Palmer the object was moving from right to left

Gravatar Well, thank goodness the mystery object was explained scientifically. Wonder how many crazies thought the aliens had landed?

Gravatar You have a great weekend, too, Quasar!

Gravatar Hi Neers, supposing other beings existed who had the ability for inter-stellar travel, earth could be a hostile 'environment' to them - and unless they had humanlike form would view humans as we might view fish in the sea or shellfish - we only interact with them as a source of food?
Of course if a highly developed alien species had lobster form, they could well be forgiven for thinking that Earth might not be a 'safe' tourist destination.

And how have you been keeping?

Gravatar lol Hill Country Gal,
more alien than some of the species which live on earth
or aliens with sophisticated WMDs more sophisticated than the ones the US has - wonder what the Pentagon response would be.
Half the people in The US consider anybody who does not believe in the american way an alien

Gravatar Hi Cindy, Thanks!
Hope you have a nice time too.

Gravatar Amazing!!!
