As a WOC (womon of color) who has recently accuired a disability, I found the speaker's opinions on point, for the most part. I have gone to Festival every year for the past 12 years, and have had to deal w/ racist interractions every year. I know that the only way to combat these things is to not be ashamed, not be afraid, and assume that your sisters will have you back when you find yourself having to "educate" other womyn on the land. Festival is nowhere near perfect, but it is the closest thing I have on this plane of reality. Everything that I have ever heard of changing in terms of Festival policy has involved YEARS of womyn speaking out and telling their truths. I am not saying "just be patient" so much as "the fight is not over until you win". My partner says "Every year, there is an almost limitless amount of womyn power that is available on the land for one week, but a limited amount of financial resources". Since I was diagnosed w/ a chronic disease and no insurance, I have discoverd a whole subculture of people living lives I had no clue about because we live in a segregated society. Festival is YOURS! You have the power within you and the womyn you know that need this to be able to access Festival. Let me know what I can do to help.
