We have a small garden area that has nothing in it yet, and looks like it wont until after Shmitta.
For a small fee I would be more than willing to let any fellow Jews not work in my garden.
If you would like to keep smitta l'mehdrin min-hamehadrin, please feel free to contact me and I'll gladly accept your money in exchange for a year lease on part of my garden for you not to work in.
As an aside, I heard today that Rav Ovadia suggested that when you make Shechiyanu on Rosh HaShana this year, have Kavana to include all the mitzvot of Shmitta that you will be performing in the coming yera.

It is ridiculous that Shmita brings huge income to Israeli enemies in Gaza and the Palestinian territories. Whatever are the religious overtones, they cannot excuse purchases from HAMAS voters. What do you think of Obadiah Shoher interpretating Shmita as charity obligation rather than agricultural rule? (Here, for example http://samsonblinded.org/blog/
sh...agriculture.htm ) Anyway, I'll better buy from atheist kibbutzim than from Gaza.

Eugene, buying from Jews who dont observe shmitta might make you feel better. But in Judaism, we dont do what makes us feel all good inside. We do whats right, which is defined as what the halacha is. Atleast thats the way I have been taught. Rabbi Sedley, any comments?
