Gravatar The North Africa section means people that were Romanized or Hellenized. Those anyone from North Africa who had adopted the Roman or Greek speech. This is totally different from Greek or Roman people returning to Europe. One could say today that many of the West Africans moving to France are French-speaking, and likely also possess French names, but that doesn't make them French. I realize that North Africans are racially very similar to Italians/Greeks (unlike West African Negroes), but it would be interesting to know just what percentage of the Italian make-up is North African. Further, as much as I respect the Greek people, Greeks and Romans are two entirely different peoples, and ANY Greek immigration would considerably change the character of Rome.

It says "as with other areas", so it's talking about the same phenomenon that's described in the other sections.

Not a whole lot:

Greeks and Romans were very similar, both racially and culturally. And there had already been a Greek colonization of Italy prior to the rise of Rome.
