Gravatar That is heartbreaking.

Gravatar I think what makes this more hurtful is the fact this is a physicians family.... Wheres the compassion & empathy ??

Gravatar Diva,
What's even more heartbreaking is that Alexandra's brother was adopted by a Montreal family who was willing to take Alexandra too, but the Austin family had already claimed her. Her brother, still lives in Montreal. They could have been together.

David,
That was the exact thing that first came to my mind.
Where is the compassion and empathy?
I'm sure there is more to this story than meets the eye, and the austin family must have had their reasons.
I can only hope that they were good ones.
I'm thinking that there is very little that an afluent family can't pay to deal with.

Gravatar I read that article and it is absolutely heartbreaking. I don't know what's worse, her not having her own home (living with relatives) or not having more than a grade 3 education, or not being recognized as a person in romania or what she treasures most is all the letters and mementos of her short stay in Canada.
I have heard stories of this happening many times. It's unbelievable.

Gravatar I wonder if they think they deserve an A for effort.

A better question might be, "do they?"

Gravatar kiki,
Alexandra "jealously guarding" her momentos was what really got me too.

Chris,
No.
Often people don't know how bad their circumstances are until someone shows them a better standard of life.
They would have done her a bigger favour by never applying for her adoption in the first place.
Or an "A" for effort if they made sure that she got back safely and was given her life back.

Gravatar The article is pretty poorly written though. It never says exactly why she was sent back and you only hear one side of the story.

Gravatar The article was basically an advert for the documentary.
Which is on tonight.

Gravatar People like that deserve to be shot. If they had given birth to their own child and decided it was "too much work" would they have just dumped it off somewhere too? What a terrible, awful thing to live with. That has to be the ultimate feeling of rejection in the world! I hope that Ontario family is never happy again!

Gravatar Sigh. Mine is "no refund, no exchange".

Gravatar I love how people read a one sided article and immediately jump to a conclusion. This is no means a defense to sending back a kid after adopting but i find it interesting how easily people can be manipulated.

For all you know the Romanian girl had crucified the family dog and was preparing to flay another kid. Probably not the case but from that article you don't really know the reason now do you?

Ask the important question of "Why" before leaping to a conclusion people.

Gravatar Chris,
Troublemaker.

Gravatar For those wondering WHY was she sent back... stop and realize that Alexandra was NINE YEARS OLD at the time. She could not have done anything to justify these big-shots to dump her. And why did these big-shots adopt her, anyways?
Tell us, Chris, WHAT could she have done,in your worldy view, to deserve
to be efed with like that??
Just explain to the best of your ability, I suppose...

Gravatar Yes, I am one of those fucked up people who likes to hear somebody's defense before I convict them in my eyes. I am not going to speculate on it because I prefer not to jump to a conclusion. So put down the torches and wait a bit to hear the other side Andre.

Gravatar They adopted a baby girl from Romania only a few months after they sent Alexandra back.

Alexandra this week filed a $7-million lawsuit against, against among others, her adoptive parents and the Ontario government.

Her adoptive father lives in the United States now while her adoptive mother lives in Italy. Neither acknowledges Alexandra.

I don't think there is any excuse in the world that justifies sending a nine-year-old child you adopted back to her home country and also not clearing up the paperwork, cancelling the adoption so she could at least have her original Romanian identity back.

Gravatar More often than not, rich peoples charity is just for show. It's part of their portfolio.
