I think my favourite part of the article was right at the end:
"While that birthday bill eclipses that of most parents, party experts say spending at all income levels has been rising steadily over the past several years as parents have looked for ways to connect with their kids."
Forget fingerpainting, I guess.
Fingerpainting and talking are pedestrian...so's an asswhuppin', apparently.

On my fifth birthday I got a toy boat. I loved that boat.
It sank.
And I turned out JUST FINE!

If I was her father, I would have set the fucking thing on fire, right there in the driveway and told her she could fucking walk.
Sell...sell...sell and she can walk

I would have called a tow truck from the dealership and had it taken back for, not a new pain job, but a full refund! Fuck that spoiled brat princess and her attitude. Fuck them to hell. What kind of parent puts up with that bullshit?! Especially from a child?? Half a fucking million?! Please. You want to really hear that bitch cry? Give the refund check to the needy in another country in her name. Heh. That will get her good and pissy for at least a whole year.
I think it's a joke

She actually responds to the video. Daddy gets her the blue car and she ends up selling the red car for $9.99

I kid you not.
Ok. That has to be a joke. The blondie has a bunch of vapid videos up, and it's on YouTube so I'm now doubting that it's for real.

Okay. Please tell me that video was just a comedy sketch. I don't think I could stand it if it were real...
And, you are absolutely correct that that 3-year old will become just like the girl in the video. I'm damn sure that a kid that young will not even remember the "princess party".
Makes one think that they should move away to an island where they won't have to experience this crap. The world is so selfish now and I'm not sure how long I can remain sane in it.
Thanks for sharing that Rad.
Judging from what Evel posted, she might just be a joke. I hope so

Hey R, here's an unrelated comment. Did you ever get a chance to check out Bordello on Markham street ever? I'm just wondering if it still exists. I've lost touch with my friend who owned it and was just wondering if he's still around. Anyone out there know if this restaurant still exists?
I never got there, but it looks like it's still there...here's the info

That's fucking mental! I was watching that TV show The War At Home, and they were talking about a barmitzvah costing like $15K, and I thought that was an exaggeration. Sounds like it's becoming the norm in the US. Loony toons, all of 'em!

I remember *wishing* my mom would make my party at McDonald's instead of the norm: Pizza and cake at home. Ha!
I loved my parties as a kid and I try to make my kid's parties as cheap but nice as possible. If that means Duncan Hines cupcakes with plastic tub frosting, then that's it!
Bella, I'm first generation. I was lucky to get a cake and a card. Party?

Ok all you jealous people....that girl from the party is now 9 years old and she remembers that party as if were yesterday.....and she is NOT a spoiled child...as a matter of fact she has grown into a responsible, caring child who cares greatly for her community....she is part of several charitable kids organizations who help out the homeless, the needy and less fortunate.....more than most kids her age or for that matter adults do.....how dare you judge a child or parent by a single birthday party....they are strangers to you and you have no idea how they live their daily lives.....they probably give more to the community on a daily basis then you do your whole life! And what about couples who spend $100,000 - $200,000 on a wedding day, or an adult who purchases a car for $100,000 or more????? They certainly could've put their money to a needy organization, but you won't comment on that.....it's cool to own a really expensive car, isn't it?!!!! At least the girl has a memory that she can relive and watch any time of her life...a memory that she considers one of the best times of her childhood....again, judge yourself before judging others, especially strangers.....just because you can't afford it and you are envious, doesn't mean that the child is spoiled, nor turns out to be a brat who doesn't care about others.....one party does not make a person...nor does one time a person helps out a needy person does that make them the most caring person in the world...it is what you do EVERYDAY that makes you who you are....and you certainly can't know that from ONE article you read on someone.....btw, the writer who wrote the article promised not to publish the dollar amounts, yet she broke that commitment so she could have an article she would be paid more for to make it juicy....that is someone who you should be judging their ethical morals!!!!

oh, and also....how dare you say the girl of the party will turn out to be like the girl in the video....first of all, who knows if that was a setup video and secondly, I'd take that car right away from her if I heard anything more than an excited thank you from her....I bit of complaint would shock me from my girl! She would never act like that....that is not how I raised her....but you wouldn't know that because you only judge by one strangers article!!!!

Whatever. No child needs a 10,000 birthday party. I don't care what your justifications are...and we'll see what values she has when she grows up..oops...you'll see..if you keep those types of expectations up for her. I can't be convinced that the party wasn't more about you than her.
