For junior employees I suspect not many. If you've been at the city for years and years, and have been banking a couple weeks a year of sick leave, you could have a shit load of money. I suspect older employees would have more incentive to keep the strike going.
Everyone loses in the end. How many of those picketers are only a couple of paycheques away from foreclosure and living off of their credit right now? There is no such thing as a real collective. Everyone looks out for themselves. Can the union look out for the employees who are really suffering through this strike?

so true. a few weeks of no pay can really hurt and for gains of maybe a 3% increase you're out two or three weeks and there goes that increase down the drain.
but when the union calls that strike you gotta go. thats what sucks.
