That made me more uncomfortable than that one cup video.
I'm totally with you on that. I think that perhaps the mother needs "the connection" more than the kids do.

Oh my, I love how at the end of the clip they start talking about the husband joining in and getting fat on breast milk. Simply unbelievable!
I think that a good basic rule is "if the child can walk, go to the bathroom and form sentences on their own, they should not be breastfeeding". I agree that kids should continue to be breastfed past a year, but think that it becomes inappropriate once kids are over 3 or 4 years old.
8! an 8 year old!
I know that the mother was making justifications for it, and the kids were going on and on about how much they love it...but, there is something very wrong about an 8 year old sucking on her mother's nipple. I'm sorry. I don't care about the immune system benefits. There are some serious psychological negatives, and intimacy confusions going on there, IMHO.

I bottle-fed my kids, so I don't feel like I can really make that decision for other people buuuuut....personally, I think once your kid can eat solid foods, it's time to put the boobs away. Mine were both off the bottle at 1 year old.

Okay...breastfeeding at the age of 8. Naming the mothers breasts, husband joining in, drawing pictures/paintings of the breasts, the 8 year old putting on a bra in hopes that one day she will grow breasts and be able to breastfeed from her own...I mean COME ON!
Her kids are going to need to speak to someone about this one day...perhaps Freud?!?

I say age 2 is the cutoff. Absolutely. Eighteen months is quite old enough. I don't think the kid really wants to continue past that age unless heavily encouraged or he has some other kind of attachment problem....
This was some very sick stuff.

Uh...I'll say 4. Is this a contest?
A good friend of mine still breastfeeds her 4 year old, and is "a breastfeeding advocate" (read: mommy blogger). I find it really uncomfortable. She does try to avoid it in public places, because it's pretty shocking when some kid just runs up and sucks on her tit.

I'm not a mother, but I have been around a massive amount of kids in my time, and if it were me, I would say once the kid is done with a milk only diet, off the boob they go. So, yeah, I back Loaki on this. Solids are a great time to stop. Or when they have teeth. Whichever comes first. Really, do you need to have anxiety over a kid biting your nipple at every meal???? That's just nucking futs!
Once again...I think the mother is the one with issues

double you tee eff?
i just watched this video! fathers joining in? not breastfeeding when she's in college or married? i should BLOODYWELL hope NOT...
the comment the kid made at the end had me on the floor. not in laughter, but in shock.
good night. it's too late for this kind of foolishness! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as I'm concerned, the minute a kid has some teeth and some verbal skills, the party's over.

I couldn't watch the video. It bothers me to watch anyone beyond the non-talking baby years breast feed. I don't see why mothers who insist on breast feeding older children don't pump their milk and put it in a bottle for public situations.
I couldn't get through the whole thing either. I totally think that the mother is the one with the refusal to let go

Snooze, breastfeeding is clearly an intimate act between a mother and child, and it's up to the mother to ween the kid off. Clearly if a mother is still breastfeeding years after a birth, she's not willing to cut the apron strings, and pumping to bottle is somewhat like a detachment for that woman. It won't ever happen.
