I hate team nursing. I am an Lpn. At my hospital we have groups of six to eight pts between an Lpn and Rn with no aids. Lpns must do all meds this includes all iv meds, TPN, PCAs, and blood, we also start most of the IV's. We draw labs from lines, and this is a pain becuase picc lines are becomeing very common. we do all the I/Os. We do everything the Rn does except assessments and admits. Rn does admits when admit team is not in, vitals and assessments, sometimes they might take off orders. They spend more time trying to look buisy and "chart" than anything else.
