Ha!!! That was one of the best Ranter posts in a while. So he's got the newfie vote. Good for Danny. Nobody else outside of the Rock has any respect for him though. Keep it up Danny Boy...you're great entertainment!
Newfoundlanders, almost without exception, are some of the finest people I've met. However, like many island populations around the world, they have a strong persecution complex. It is that complex that Danny Williams plays to his advantage, just like Joey Smallwood did half a century ago. It is a shame that such a hardy and likable bunch allow a politician to play to their worst instincts like that. Newfoundlanders really do deserve better, and I hope some day they realize it.
Danny Williams reminds me so much of Joey Smallwood, it's scary. Smallwood ruled Newfoundland like a dictator and was the driving force behind the stupid Churchill Falls deal with Quebec. Danny Williams has an inflated sense of importance, much like Smallwood did. Smallwood eventually was reviled in Newfoundland, here's hoping Williams gets the same treatment.
