This research shows that those who claim that the Ashkenazi Jews are descended from Europeans who converted to Judaism are wrong. The European group most closely related to Ashkenazi Jews are the southeastern Europeans who are largely descended from Middle Eastern farmers who migrated to Europe in the Neolithic period.
