"In The Blank Slate Steve Pinker observed curiously that even into the 21st century we take as our philosophical sages in the domain of human affairs to be men who lived in the 17th and 18th century."
Yeah. In legal cases anytime there is reference to natural law they call in the classics professors.
Why not evolutionary psychologists?
I'm getting tired of discussing what the Greeks thought. Who cares? Do we care what Ptolemy thought about the deferent of Venus?

Thanks for the pointer. I'll add this to my already overflowing backlog of books to read.

Unfortunately it looks like it is way too loaded with crappy politics to actually make an impact on anybody in respectable circles. From the editorial description:
Radical egalitarianism and multiculturalism are ideologies aimed at dismantling our great Anglo-European tradition. Forces of erosion are at work which may make our nation's greatness a faint memory.... Today we see "diversity training" imposed on young people in a Stalinist manner.
Yadda yadda. I wonder if it's possible to discuss human biodiversity without being a right-wing dick. Sombody should write that book.
