And for readers who need to brush up on or just learn the basics of biology, MIT's Open CourseWare site has a decent biology page. Their intro biology course has two versions, both with full video lectures. They focus more on biochem, genetics, and molecular bio, since it's an engineering school, but there are a handful of lectures on pop gen, evo bio, and ecology too.
One of the courses features Eric Lander, who we know about here. Lamentably, though, no guest lectures by a certain former student of his.

One of the problems facing Bioinformatics is that big research institutions have so many legal and bureaucratic barriers that most informatists I've talked to almost think it's not worth the trouble to set up a continuous database.
Heck, a job I interviewed for was specifically about addressing those issues.
