A past revelation by the American ambassador included the tidbit that the Brits themselves are not immune to 'rendition'. I noticed in context of 'human rights', governments that allow this extradition to the U.S. are de facto in violation of international treaties to which the U.S. itself is signatory : because the law is not followed!
Even hopeless militarists like Blue Girl Red State recognize that to be the case. When Habeas Corpus was disallowed, it literally set back 'human rights' to the serfdom of a thousand years past - another term for slavery.
There is a story of a lazy Prince, who was careless and ignorant. He would sign any paper his ministers would put before him without even bothering to read them. Then one day his top minister enters his quarters with two guards and hands him a piece of parchment. As always the Prince, signed it, without giving it a second thought. Then the guards seized him and carried him off.
The Prince protested:
"Unhand me, I am your Lord! Where are you taking me!"
The Minister showed his liege the orders he had just signed.
They read:
"By my hand I order the execution of one Prince of the Realm. To be carried out immediately."
