Unfortunately from some of the DNC speeches they are also picking up the newcoldwar baton. This what empires do, antagonise each other and let their citizens pay the price and yet again NATO find a situation that pushes questions about their function out of view. As soon as Bush stole the election Europe should have been looking to end NATO. D'oh.
NATO should have died a quiet peace somewhere around 1992, but instead it is aggressively expanding East. A living nightmare for the average Russian and a propaganda boon for the oligarchs in Moscow.
What really needs to happen is for the rest of Europe to not pretend that is not in their interest to do something besides watching from the sidelines.
Putin is, like our own pretendsident, a soulless fuck. The difference between them is that Putin is much smarter. Then again, in this country, presidents are usually assasinated by someone outside of the government.
Oh they need to get their act together, but not be pawns of the witless eagle or the caged bear.
Putin was, is and forever will be a KGB killah, no doubt about that. But the one thing he is not is stupid, you got to understand where he is coming from in order to disarm him, rhetorically speaking, of course.
