Perhaps an occasional beating or mugging is the price you pay for living in Minneapolis. The city council is most efficient at having cars towed to the impound lot when an inch of snow falls (big fees collected). Otherwise, don't expect much.

this is what a city gets for not caring about loitering or profiling because they don't want to offend.
it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what thuggish types wearing hoodies and baggy clothes are doing just hanging around a stairwell, lobby.
i really feel bad for the victims, many of whom seem to be women, in how their previous views of 'we are all the same' thinking might get shattered. They will never look at certain people the same again.

Amy, people become wary of a certain group of people after being victimized by some of its members. This is simply a natural defense mechanism that humans share with every other animal that's survived predation since the dawn of life on this planet. That is what I would call it at least, for what its worth. Of course most of the elitist liberals that hold power in Minneapolis would simply call this person a racist bigot and attempt to discredit them.

This is what political correctness does, it turns common sense on its head. Police tend to think it's common sense to focus more resources on areas with higher rates of crime. But if this area has higher rates of protected groups (minorities), then this is racial profiling and cannot be tolerated. The problem is, the police common sense comes from a gut feeling we've evolved over millenia in surviving and preventing dangerous scenarios. While political correctness is simply a recent fabrication of mass delusion.

I'm convinced the Strib and other MSM think people are stupid, that all we do is overgeneralize. Of course we know that not all minorities are criminals, if a person doesn't realize this then the Strib's reporting or non reporting of the suspect descriptions will not make a bit of difference in changing their opinion.

We are seeing a little war declared on us by mostly out-of-state urban terrorists. Write the leaders of the city--explain that allowing gangsters to arrive in droves does not save the city/county any money. It costs. And, as more and more mild mannered city folk LEAVE in droves, money will be LOST.
Please tell the leaders that gangstas do not pay taxes.
Thugs do not pay taxes.
Pimps do not pay taxes.
Prostitutes do not pay taxes.
Crack dealers do not pay taxes.
Bank robbers and muggers do not pay taxes.
Angry savages that carry broken bottles and boards do not pay taxes. They do not shop at Macy's. They shop-LIFT. They spend no money at local businesses. Whatever they want they TAKE--or they buy from someone else who steals.
They will not date your daughter--they will RAPE your daughter.
Tell the mayor and the governor: "It is no longer a question of liberal or conservative, democrat or republican. Do your job!"

the main thing keeping mpls. alive is the lake area residents, the downtown district, and the campus U.
the crime is reaching the nice, safe areas now so things aren't looking good.
my neighbor has a family member who lives in the lake of the isles area and is fleeing due to things not feeling good anymore, to put it their way.

Gravatar The MSM interupts programming any time there is the slightest chance that bad weather could cause damage or injury. This is because when they miss or underestimate an event like the Rodger's tornado and someone gets hurt they get heavily criticized.

It would be nice if the MSM took the same approach to crime and got descriptions out to the public on the off chance that someone may identify the perps or at least avoid them, possibly saving injury or a life.

Gravatar Good point Nordeaster.

Cut and run is the only sane policy for MPLS residents.

Gravatar I have a suspicion about the leadership of Minneapolis:
Rybak and Co. would like nothing more than to get rid of guns, make them illegal within the city limits. San Francisco passed an outright gun ban last year. Minneapolis WANTS to do the same thing. The reason why Rybak and Co. aren't cracking down on crime like they should is they want to make people become so tired of the shootings, robberies, muggings and killings that when they feel the time is right, they'll put it on a ballot asking the city's residents: "Should firearms be declared illegal in Minneapolis?" And with a resounding HELL YES, the people will have spoken and the Mayor will have got exactly what he wanted.
Will it solve anything? No! Gone will be everyones right to defend themselves. Then for sure only the criminals would have guns. Because if you too kept one for self defense, then you too would be committing a felony, which then makes you a criminal as well.

Gravatar ORD,

Minnesota state law preempts most firearm regulation by individual cities. It would take an act of the legislature to ban guns in Minneapolis.

Hint: Know where your state candidates stand!

Gravatar the u.s. cities with liberal gun control have the highest crime rates. i think the idea behind it is to make law enforcement less endangered when they fight crime if there are bans on legal ownership.

Gravatar If you are a gun owner, please vote for Michele Bachmann.

Wetterling will work to disarm you, right after she calls for our troops to surrender in Iraq.
