Gravatar I'm sorry to see you go, but I totally understand the time commitment issues.

You did a great job and really showed people how a blog can make a differnce.

Thanks and Good Luck!

Gravatar Damn! Like Tracy said - you'll be missed.
But I bet you've got the bug, Rambix. I suspect we haven't heard the last from you just yet. I hope not.
Thanks for putting a light on the roaches.
Best wishes,
Paul

Gravatar Best of luck to you Rambix. You will be missed.

Gravatar Spending more time with the family is a great reason to "retire". My boy starts college next year. It's amazing how fast it goes by. Enjoy it all.

You can leave knowing job well done. Your blogging will be missed. Blessings and best of luck in all you do.

Gravatar I'm really sorry to see you go. I appreciate the spotlight you've thrown on the Twin Cities crime problem, your analysis of its causes, your persistence in seeking solutions. You're on my daily Must Read list.

I understand the kid thing (my grandson just turned two - where did the time go?), I do. And I wish you and your family the very best in everything.

But maybe there's hope for the rest of us? Maybe some of the local bloggers would welcome an occasional Guest Posting? I know I would.

Take care.

Nate

Gravatar Rambix - I think we all appreciate your reason for "retiring", but dang...you will be missed! Good luck - have fun and if you are ever in the south metro look us up!

Gravatar Thanks so much for your service. As a Minneapolis resident, I've especially appreciated what you've done. I'll definitely miss having such an easy way to follow all the Local News deemed 'not fit to print' by the Red Star.

You can be sure, at least as far as I'm concerned, that you've accomplished all of your stated goals. Take comfort in the fact that you've played a role in showing a former liberal 'the light'.

God bless you and your family. You've certainly retired for the best possible reason. As others have mentioned, the time goes very fast when you have kids. You gotta make the most of the times that you know you won't get back.

Happy Trails Rambix!!!

Gravatar It was fun while it lasted.

Gravatar I understand the motivations entirely. Doubt I could've kept a blog, much less a serious one, going when my kids were little.

Good luck, God Bless, all the best.

Gravatar Thanks Rambix. I'll miss your blog.

Gravatar Yeah. What they all said -- I've no doubt you're doing the right thing, but I'll miss your reporting.

best,

jr

Gravatar Good luck and thanks for giving us a place to see what's out there and to exchange ideas!

Gravatar Rambix, you have been my first go-to blog in the morning. I'll really miss you. Our Our House blog is turning into a Minneapolis crime blog simply because there have been a growing incidence of crimes all around us. Your immense gift to us all was to bring a big picture-city wide perspective to the problem. I never knew how you could do it all on your own. If we could get some Southside folks, Northside folks and some downtown folks together with some other people who love to read and watch the media crime stories, Maybe THEN we could duplicate your efforts. Otherwise, crime news will be diminished for all of us. Enjoy life in God's Country (what we call the suburbs) wherever that may be and whomever you are.

P.S. There's just one thing that always bugged me. Does Rambix -ix refer to the (now somewhat archaic) suffix denoting female? Like aviatrix? Everybody I know who reads you has insisted you are a guy. I'll understand if you don't wish to even give that away.

Gravatar You've been one of the great ones. You've done work you can be proud of.

Gravatar As a regular non-commenting reader I'm really going to miss this Blog. Good luck to ya, Tom

Gravatar You did a great job and it is disappointing to see this blog go. I understand and appreciate your motives for retirement. I share Margarets hopes that your public service efforts will be continued by a group of people so that demands on private lives could be minimized.

Gravatar I should probably add that I would be willing to contribute to such an effort, with a northside perspective. If anyone else would be interested in signing on, email me at mmartin@ourhouseblog.com. If we can get four or five people together, anonymous blogging welcome.

Gravatar Sorry to see you go, Rambix. We on the blogosphere will miss you.

Have a good life, family and God bless.

Greg

Gravatar Semper fi, Rambix.

You done good.

Gravatar Thank you for all the insight and hard-hitting truth, it will be greatly missed. You have done wonders for those of us who do not enjoy the status quo. Thanks also for the hard work and dedication you put into your blog, it shined through to the very end. Good luck.

Respectfully yours,
Silence Dogood

Gravatar Maybe a list of your favorite sources? So some new blogger can pick up the flame?

Gravatar Sorry to see you go. Yours is the only blog I read. You'll be missed. I came upon your blog after the Zebuhr shooting in Uptown and have read it regularly since. It is amazing how much crime is unreported. Best wishes!

Gravatar Look, don't lie to us. We know Gyllenhaal and Boyd grabbed your kid and said "quit the blog or we'll send him to the Alec Baldwin Film Festival and MAKE HIM WATCH", and we know the ungodly pain that any parent must feel when such a thing happens to their child, but we've got good people out there looking for him, and we'll find him and get him back for you, so just don't give in yet!

(Okay, seriously, nice place ya got here, sorry to see it close. You'll be missed. Take care, and, as the father of three, the oldest being 16, let me just warn you that some day soon you'll be wishing you had this blog to escape to when the kids are driving you batty.)

.

Gravatar See ya, sucka.

Gravatar Thanks for the entertainment, I never feed in to your bullshit, but I did read it all with interest and eventually respected the message that you have been trying to get across. I still think that you do more harm than good, but what do I know.

Gravatar S.W. said:

"I still think that you do more harm than good, but what do I know."

WTF?!?

You can certainly disagree with the perspective and opinions of this blog's author but how the hell does it do more harm than good?

You sir are a crackhead.

Gravatar Your blog essentially served as a supplement to what you considered to be filtered crime coverage in a large metropolitan daily newspaper. Working at a newspaper, I am well aware of space constraints and while it would be nice to print each and every news story, it isn't economically feasible. Blogs which actually uncover relatively unreported facts are rare but they serve a purpose much in the way community newspapers compete with but supplement large dailies.

While many disagree with a blog author's political stance no matter which side of the aisle they reside on, your blog provided a service to those who knew of it.

Gravatar Best wishes to you and your family. You have performed a very valuable public service admirably.
Sincerely,

Gravatar What? You're signing off? But I just got here!!! Damn the luck anyway.

You'll be back.

(understand the time thing. Ain't 24 hours PD just too few?)

Gravatar This morning I checked my daily must-read blog only to get and "Internal server error". This evening I check again tonight and am sad to see you're ending the blog, but you couldn't have had a better reason Rambix. They're only kids once and if you miss it there's no do-overs.

There are so many of us out here that appreciate the wonderful service you've provided to the community through this blog.

God bless you and your family. This blog will be greatly missed by all of us.

Gravatar Read this morning that you were hanging it up, and didn't know what to write. The observations you (Rambix) made, and the great sleuthing have been a highpoint of every day for me. The response of Minneapolis citizens has been impressive - I had begun to believe that this City had become rotten so deep and so widely as to be irreversible. You have effectively used the street crime problem to wake up a significant number of citizens. You have ungagged a silent group of Minneapolis citizens which I hope is large, and which I hope will show its muscle at the polls in November.

Gravatar So long Rambix, I'll miss the blog and most of the commentary. Lots of great people here. There are also a few of those fellow followers of the Rybakian Intelligencia which added a certain delusional view of the quagmire.

I tried to read this blog daily, if not more often.
Lots of great stuff here and I pointed a bunch of my friends to it. One heckuva a great resource. The media should be ashamed of themselves.

Good luck and watch your back if you enter The Quagmire. You've made the right decision and never regret it. When the kid is older and if the greens are still the incompetent rulers of Mpls, there will be more than enough to blog on.

Rybak The Appeaser will allow this once great city to sink deeper into the quicksand of crime bolstered by political correctness.

While innocent citizens are robbed, raped, burgled, stabbed, beaten, and murdered, the reaction from the posers in power will be c'est la vie. They have no spine. No guts. They have no clue. They are cowards. Rybak cries and people die.

So long, and thanks for all the blogging.

P.S.: SW you're a troll and a PITA. Won't miss you one bit. The quagmire is festering all around you and you seem to be happy in your Rybakian Utopia. You can have it.

Gravatar Well, you lost a lot of credibility with your Mitch Berg comment, but cheers nontheless.

Gravatar Great work Rambix. Thanks for the wake-up call. I'll miss starting my morning here.

Gravatar Thanks for your efforts, time and sacrifice. Few folks realize how time consuming running a reliable, intelligent blog can be.

You will be missed.

But as the old saying goes, for every door that closes, another one opens.

Gravatar Regardless of all the comments I've posted over the months vehemently disagreeing with most of the political sentiments of Rambix and regulars, I will miss this daily stop on my sojurn through current events.

I am a news and information junkie, and, though I hesitate to admit it, this blog filled a void left by the MSM, and I learned a lot of details here that I wouldn't have otherwise.

The debate was sometimes kind of fun, too.

I'm sorry to see you go, but everyone can understand the need to spend more time with your family.

Gravatar

I took a crappy job for years just to be with my kids when they were young, so I understand.

Couldn't you just decide to do one post a week or one a month? To keep your skills honed?

Anyway, thanks for being there.

Gravatar I'm terribly, terribly sorry to see you go. Your blog has filled a very real need, and done so with passion and dedication.

If you could find it in your heart and schedule, come meet some interested folk with the idea of passing the torch to, say, half a dozen people who may be able to emulate what you've done here. They're out there, I think, and willing to give it a shot.

Don't be a stranger, and if you need anything, just ask. Like many of us, I owe you one.

Best,

Andrew

Gravatar I wish you luck and appreciate the concern you have for the city and metro area.

Gravatar Thank you for your valuable community service. I don't always agree with the political views expresed here but you can't discount the facts. Facts that are not reported by the fish wrapper local paper.

Gravatar Rambix,

THANK YOU for your terrific, always imformative blogging you did for the past 18 months. I ran across your blog in February of this year as I was getting so frustrated by the out of control crime in Minneapolis. What a relief it was to find out that I was not the only one feeling upset about the empty suit mayor's appalling lack of attention to the very obvious problems.

You were so on top of everything and you were one of the few to mention all of the problems that are going on with the U campus.

I wish you well and thank you again for all of your insights, news and general observations about all of the insanity the city has gone through the past couple of years.

Take care and enjoy your precious time with your family!

Gravatar Thank you all for your very nice comments (Even Shabadoo). It means a lot to me. The quality of people responding to this blog has been outstanding. It gives me hope that there are people out there with common sense that will stand up and be heard when it comes to public safety. Stay safe out there.

Gravatar Keep the blog up indefinitely. Otherwise spammers will take it over.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Rambix will make a comeback at some point.

Gravatar As an infrequent visitor to Rambix, I was hoping for some entertaining outrage and armageddon-in-the-streets prognostications in the wake of the election results, especially Klobuchar's smoking of that creepy dude with personality of cardboard. Sad to find the blog expired.

Rambix, all the best to you as you move on to other ventures. Despite your misguided motivations, your commitment to this blog was pretty darn impressive.

A couple of comments on the farewell address:

Regarding: "...the Red Star filters your crime stories and suppresses certain information to fit their social engineering."

It would only be fair and correct to also point out that Rambix also filtered your crime stories, suppressed certain information and added an almost comical amount of self-righteous, fear-mongering, race-baiting spin to fit HIS social engineering.

And finally, while your intention to devote more focus to your faith is honorable, here's hoping that faith advocates just a touch more tolerance and respect for the non-anglo, non-right-wing, non-economically blessed and non-citizenship-tenured than you and others afforded them here. I can't seem to find the words "scumbag" and "girlie-men" in my version of the Bible. But, hey, I bet "quagmire" is in there somewhere!

Be well.
