wow imagine my surprise! not only has my old colleague written a book, but i learn about it because it is reviewed in gizmodo . congratulations! and i'm looking forward to picking up a copy. from the looks of the blog, i may be one of the last people to do so....

i always remember an old wired interview with marvin minsky where he was asked about the potential of hooking humans up to computers to make our lives better, richer, etc. by solving problems. and he said something to the effect of "why bother hooking us up to computers when putting the chips in our brains will enable us to run forever" well something like that anyways. always stuck with me.
