Ah, sweet nostalgia....

Thanks to this website , I find myself taking a brief trip down memory lane each date.

In particular the entry about Wolfenstein 3-D took me back to the the freezing basement of the home where I grew up, me and my brother huddled in big blankets in front of the old Packard Bell, playing after our parents went to sleep because they heartily disapproved of our Nazi shooting.

And this entry about Lamb Chops Play Along kept me on YouTube for hours reliving its glory...

I actually had to go over to a friend's house as my ancient computer at the time wouldn't play it. And really who could resist killing Nazis even if, as Will Smith so eloquently put it, parents just don't understand.

Seeing Lamb Chop, or pretty much any puppet from my youth, makes me think of the Muppet Show. Oh how I miss seeing Kermit and the gang at night like I used to. If they brought that show back I'd still tune in.

Very cool website by the way, I'll definitely have to check it out further when I get a chance.

$\"Gravatar\"$ This place sent me back to some of my youngest memories. I used to watch Thundercats pretty much every chance I could catch it on. I've actually been meaning to pick up the DVD sets.

Of course... for another dash of nostalgia, I just have to look at my bath robe and I think back to watching M*A*S*H. Of course, I can still catch the reruns of that on.

Of course there are my gamer memories... Let's just say I love the Wii virtual console...

I shouldn't admit this, but Cheetara was one of my first crushes. It was 1985, I was eight years old and I was smitten.

It was my hope that I might somehow meet her and ask her to marry me.

Needless to say, things didn't work out. It was my first and last attempt to land an older woman.

$\"Gravatar\"$ If we're talking '80s anime imports, I gotta go with Robotech. I was always a Lin Minmae kind of a guy. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a pretty voice.

But I digress. My most recent trip in the Wayback machine has to do with music rather than TV or videogames. I have a considerable CD collection, especially since my wife is as much of an audiophile as I am, so we have hers as well as mine. Thing is, with the advent of MP3s, I had neglected my collection for years. I listen to whatever I already have on my computer and download whatever new stuff I come across that I like.

So for this Xmas my wife got me a new car stereo to replace my crappy old one, so for the first time in my life I finally have a CD player in my car, a necessity since I have a 40 min drive to work. Well, this gave me the opportunity to pull out all the old CDs I have that I haven't listened to for about a decade, and oh the flashbacks, bringing me back to a much thinner and less happy time, back when I was all gothic and tragic. KMFDM, Chemical Brothers, Thrill Kill Kult, Sisters of Mercy, albums I used to listen to over and over again. Great stuff.

$\"Gravatar\"$ Yeah, that's been the joy of the iPod for me. I spent several weeks going through my CD collection and added in everything to my computer that I wanted. Now I just hit shuffle and let the nostalgia happen. $\"\"$

It's always fun to be able to explore stuff you haven't heard in ages. Friday on the way home from work I listened to the debut album by School of Fish, which I first got back in Junior High and hadn't heard all that much since.

$\"Gravatar\"$ I actually have a bunch of those old Read-Along record books from my childhood shoved up in my kid's closet. Nothing as cool as yours, but I do have some old Star Wars ones, some He-Man, a few others. I should pull them out and have a listed, just for giggles.
