I have been getting a lot of mixed comments about that show.

The guys on Penny-Arcade said the show was garbage on their poscast a while ago. But some of my friends say they love it. I haven't had a chance to check it out for myself but maybe I will.

$\"Gravatar\"$ I believe they did bring back Chuck, but like Dollhouse it's only slated for a 13-episode run with an option for the other nine eps if things go well.

I guess that's actually how most renewals get done these days.

$\"Gravatar\"$ I don't mind the 13+9 renewal, what I don't like is how they're cutting budgets so the secondary cast members (one of the strong points of Chuck) don't get as much screen time or get cut completely.

It hamstrings the writers and forces them to be more formulaic if they decrease the size of the cast. Imagine where Buffy would have gone if the execs told Joss that Xander needed less screen time.

$\"Gravatar\"$ Yeah, I totally agree. The problem with the networks is that they expect stellar ratings all the time and if the don't get them then they just pull the plug and try something else in the slot.

Buffy was fortunate in that it was on the small and struggling WB, which always appreciated the show's audience even in the beginning when it was just starting to build its fan base.

At this point even the UHF stations have gotten too big for their britches, especially since Fox went from zero to hero with shows like The Simpsons and American Idol.

The only reason I think we saw so many shows on the edge get picked up this time around is because all the networks have had at least one show that they canned in the first season that then went crazy with DVD sales, Firefly anyone?

I also think it's because they've tried enough back-to-back replacements and seen that the quick fix solution didn't yield any better results that they may be ready to let a show try and find an audience, though I doubt they'll wait too long.

Dark Angel, nuthin. At least they got a good, what, 2-3 seasons out of that one? You want a tragedy, look at Whedon's last show, Firefly. When it aired, they didn't even show the episodes in order! The last one to air was the frigging PILOT!

And you wonder why it was pulled after 18 episodes. Then it went to video and sold enough copies that Whedon was able to shmooze his way into making Serenity, the movie sequel that was pretty much Season 2 smashed down into 2 hours.

$\"Gravatar\"$ I most definitely remember, they canceled Dark Angel , despite a huge uproar from a firmly established fan base, FOR FIREFLY!

I hate just saying the name of that show... But na, that was a really good show as well, but just like Dark Angel before it, FOX decided to give the show the Friday night \"Death Slot\", which contributed to the low ratings resulting in the cancellation of the shows.

Whenever FOX is unsure if a show will suceed or not, or have low confidence in it, or is planning on canceling it, they give it the death slot. It's also true to some extent for other networks, but none more so than F******* FOX!!!

So yeah about Dollhouse not being cancelled.... yet....
