I wonder if my State's Dick Durbin would be willing to mention this "detainee" on the floor of the Senate? I will contact his office about this, and urge others to do the same. Great post, and way to go in pointing out the liberal double standard when it comes to caring about rights and liberties.

Thank you, Chris. You are very kind.
Please look at my sidebar and you will find "Free Political Prisoners in ME." Two of them have petitions we can sign, and the first one is a report on how Akbar Ganji is doing.
He managed to sneak a letter out. It is very heart-wrenching and heart-warming at the same time. We must do something, NOW!
I was going to say soon, but he does not have the time. Thank you.

Thanks very much Rosemary, he got an amnesty three months ago and is currently targeted again: the building of his newspaper al-Shoura was taken over by two weeks ago by gunmen, and then they published a replica paper with the same name and bogus content. The democratically oriented political party he is affiated with has been dissolved. Im worried.

I knew about the takeover, but they dissolved his party? I thought they were forced to allow him to have his party by the court...maybe that was Egypt.
It all gets confusing sometimes. Sorry about that. Thanks for the correct info.

Too much focus is placed on politics.
Politicians are bought and sold.
All efforts I se, attack A narrow band
of issues. We need to come together (as the corporations have) and attack this evil as a singular group.
Their process is to distract and divide. They have been successful. We must unite. The ACLU.NRA, WTP,etc.
