You're right about that. Kurdistan is a forgotten region. It's also the largest concentration of a single ethnicity in the world that doesn't have its own country.
We often feel pity for the "good" Kurds that have been the victims of Saddam Hussein -- these are the Kurds in the southern part of the Kurdish region. What we never hear about, though are the "bad" Kurds farther north who have been at war for years against Turkey. Since the US has for a long time been selling/donating tools of war to Turkey, we have less compassion for them.
A VERY enlightening video if you're interested. I had no idea.

I hate Turkey. You may not know this, but I am 1/2 Armenian. Enough said, eh?
Why is it so important that the Arabs that occupy the West Bank can demand "land for peace," but my Kurdish brothers and sisters cannot have their own land?
Don't get me wrong, I love our President on some issues. I hate the State Dept. on others. It is the State Dept. that is behind all of this. They would rather have the status quo.
That is NOT stability. It is NOT freedom. Just ask the Kurds in Iran!
