That business happened to be illegal, but while her male lawbreaking clients got off scot free (most of them anyway) she herself was facing up to 55 years.

BALTIMORE -- A former university professor accused of working as a call girl hanged herself over the weekend, police said Monday.
Brandy Britton, 43, was found dead at her home Saturday by a family member.
Britton, who was a sociology and anthropology professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, was charged a year ago with four counts of prostitution and was scheduled to go on trial next Monday. The charges carried up to a year in jail each.
"On a first-time offense, I doubt if she would have served any time," said Wayne Kirwan, a spokesman for the Howard County State's Attorney's office.
Britton's attorney, Christopher Flohr, called her a "kind and generous soul."
"Her death underscores an important question: Was the public benefited at all by the resources spent on her arrest and prosecution?" Flohr said in a statement.
Britton earned her doctorate from the University of California at San Francisco and founded the Institute for Women and Girls Health Research Inc., which she ran out of the same Ellicott City home where she allegedly entertained johns for upwards of $300 an hour. The home was under foreclosure.

In a local New Mexico jail a suspected break-in rapist apparently "hung himself" in his cell. He tied his legs together with a bedsheet, ran the sheet up to his hands and tied them behind his back. Within hours of the announcement that DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey had allegedly hanged herself at her mother’s home in Florida, Time Magazine released an interview with her "friend," a professional conspiracy debunker and an individual who has fabricated quotes in the past, who claimed Palfrey had told him of her wish to end her life.
Only the dangerously naive could take this report at face value without being massively suspicious.

Why wouldn't you wit until sentencing to kill your self? Doesn't make sense.
I see a lot of posts assuming that Dick Cheney was on the list and that is the reason for the murder.
I propose that Dick knows his career is done and even if he was on the list it would not be sufficient motoviation for such a high profile murder.
So who would have the most to loose, and who's name on the list would do the most damage to the Republican party?
The easy answer is John Mccain. McCain cheated on his first wife and is known to have a wandering eye which his current wife seems to tolerate (maybe she's banging the pool boy and doesn't care).
Even if the McCains have an 'open relationship', which is fine by me, if the news got out that McCain was on the list all the best laid plans for the next 4 years of War & Profit by the same folks who are getting rich from Blood & Oil would be in jeopardy.
I'm not saying McCain would be involved in this murder, but those who stand to loose billions if he is disgraced before the convention would not hesitate a second to protect their interests by killing someone.

Fox news will play Alex Jones interview with the DC Madam,this weekend. In the last 24 hrs. Faux actually talked about this and mentioned Alex Jones interview with her. to Not a Floridian--I am a Floridian, native born tho I don't live there at present. My sister and I, after we were retired, used to watch the true crime shows on tv.
After the depection of serial con jobs, ax murder, multiple homicide, whatever---invariably the narrator would announce, "and then He/She (the perp) moved to----" and my sister and I would chorus, "Florida." And, of course, that is where they moved.
The state is nutty, but not entirely because of the natives.
