No matter the historical and traditional background of the vice president, she sees "president of the Senate" and that's all she needs to reason that the VP is supposed to control and drive all issues before that body.

I'm not sure what the duties of the VP is in regards to the Senate, but from what was reported above, would have some control over the Senate. There seems to be no limit to the times the VP can preside over the Senate and could preside very time it comes in session.
That would give the VP lots of control.

Literal fundamentalist - That's a good one. Problem is it assumes Mrs. Palin has read the constitution or studied history, and that's a bit of a stretch.
But wouldn't a literal fundamentalist see the US Vice President as, like, first runner up? You know, doesn't wear the crown, but is just as important and every bit a winner inside with nice shoes too? Drops by Congress now and then to give opinion, but only when they can't settle things themselves.
When will the American people realize that Palin was put into the fold by Karl Rove as Mccain has a short life ahead of him. She will be the perfect puppet for Rove and the others in the GOP.
