Really the only thing that the Democrats can do at this point is to keep the pressure on the Bush administration to keep them for making anymore policy decisions that could further damage our country, and to attempt to hold them accountable for the criminal activity of the past seven years.
I can hardly wait for the day that we learn all that the Bush administration has tried to keep secret. It may be almost too much for some people to bear.

That even with a minority, as long as they have any dumwad of their choosing in the big chair, there is a way to get around the constitution, and the laws of the land. Executive privilege, National security, vetos and when they get caught, the old Presidential pardon. What a racket.

I believe that even when this administration is gone we will not learn the full extent of their dirty work. Remember the lost or delited e-mails? This is just one of the many tricks that they have played. There also is the fact that the president will have a final say on which papers will be shown to the public for how ever many years that they choose to keep them under cover. This administration will go down as the most secretive and most damaging to the United States in our standing in the world. The next president will have his or her work cut out from their first day in office to try to clean up this mess!!!!!!!

Technically, the SCOTUS has to approve Executive privilege uses. Granted, I think everyone assumes that they will just rubber stamp the decision.
trippin--the penalty for Contempt of Congress is anywhere from a couple of days in prison, to up to 5 years in recent history (back in '83 some EPA admin was jailed for perjury during a House Energy meeting).
Granted, Bush will just pardon them. And that would win the Dems the election, so I say go for it.

So many crimes, yet no one is punished. As this trend cumulates a deficit of punishment versus crime, it may drive someone to think that vigilante' justice may be the only option. Not me, mind you, but maybe someone less tolerant of bullshit will cross that threshold.
I hope it doesn't happen. I hope there is enough justice meted out that that deficit is leveled. It's something to think about, just the same. I remember the reaction to the Rodney King trial. Sometimes the public overheats when they see somthing that is obviously unfair.

I am still trying to figure out who is in control of the Sentate. The majority democrats who are unable to get anything passed other than the smoke they try to blow up our asses. The minority republicans seems to stop the democrats at every turn. Funny, the minority democrats before 04 could not stop any thing the reupblicans wanted to do. So, whether the democrats are the minority or majority they don't have the spine to get anything passed. Republicans kicked the democrats out of committee meetings, shut them out of the senate and railroaded their policies without regard to democratic opinions. The Panzy assed democrats are too afraid to call the republicans obstructionist, won't use threaten using the nuclear option to stop a republican filibuster, too afraid to force republicans to debate bills. What makes all this worse is that fact that Bush refused to even look at the Childrens health insurance bill, he said he would veto it sight unseen. Talk about telling Congress Fuckoff if you don't do it my way. I say the democrats should return the favor and shut the doors on the republicans until they decide they will debate and act in the best interest of the nation not the rambling of our spoiled rotten brat My way or the Highway" president.
The WH says that their DOJ won't prosecute a contempt case against this WH anyway, so...How many votes do they need for inherent contempt again?

I can't see America ever recovering from what this administration has done to it.
This is the end of the USA. It was great during my lifetime. The last 7 years stole a lifetime of work and effort (about 50+ years) - gone. Nothing left.
But Bush claims to be all powerful and Congress licks his boots.
And that's as far as things will go, because to take real action would take a modicum of courage, something few Republican Lite Dems have.
