Can't help remembering a prior Governor of New York with a somewhat similar problem, Grover Cleveland, later to become President. His opponents reported that Cleveland had fathered an illegitimate child while he was a lawyer in Buffalo. The derisive phrase "Ma, Ma, where's my Pa?" rose as an unofficial campaign slogan for those who opposed him. When confronted with the emerging scandal, Cleveland's instructions to his campaign staff were: "Tell the truth." Cleveland admitted to paying child support in 1874 to Maria Crofts Halpin, the woman who claimed he fathered her child named Oscar Folsom Cleveland. Halpin was involved with several men at the time, including Cleveland's friend, Oscar Folsom, for whom the child was named. Cleveland did not know which man was the father, and is believed to have assumed responsibility because he was the only bachelor among them.
That's from Wikipedia. Sort-a makes me yearn for the days of what you might call honest adultery.
There's one further kink to this story: the other guy, Folsom, who was involved with Gov. Cleveland's paramour (and who might have therefore been the real father of the child Cleveland paid support for) actually became Cleveland's father-in-law, when as Pres., Cleveland married Folsom's daughter. As executor of Folsom's estate, Cleveland had actually supervised her upbringing. So even though he married the daughter of a guy who may have also fathered an illegitimate child Cleveland also claimed as his, I guess there's no way Cleveland may have married his own daughter by mistake.
How much better off we are nowadays when contraception and abortion solve all these problems...except for those pesky FBI investigations that still get New York Governors into trouble.
The key thing is to pray for the whole Spitzer family. The wife...Silda's... anger is going to grow and grow (and satan likes that since he canj increase just anger into unjust wrath easily in most of us) as she realizes that Eliot was willing to risk her life (even though they had separate beds) in that he was willing to pay more with this club if he could have unprotected sex which explains his love of pro abortion laws (an abortion would cost less than the hourly with that group).
The daughters are getting hit with this just as they are confused in general at their age about sex. And Silda may hermitize so as to face none of her old but more distant friends. Satan has worked well herein and it is up to us... a priestly people...to make sure prayers go up for them.
