Being a parent of a child with autism has its moments. Moments of joy, moments of despair, moments of understanding, moments of complete frustration and moments of acceptance. To know my son is to love my son. Unfortunately not many will have patience or take the time to look past his oddness to see who he is inside. It's their loss really.
You know if I had a choice I would not have wished my child to have autism. When it comes to children, you take them as they come. Still there are far worse fates in life than autism.
What a great City Pages article! Thanks for posting the link. I don't wander by any of the open newsstands very often, so I haven't read one lately.
