I agree with you about Howard Dean. Up here in New England (read with a Kennedy voice), Dean was a fave and most I know thought he was a "shoe in". Until the weird screech. I thought that was an odd event but chalked it up to excitment. Anyway, I don't know much about your local politics but I like Franken. Oh yea, I forgot about Ventura...

I find lately too many politicians, or would-bes, have a lack of respect for the voting public. It seems they forget who they are representing. I am a conservative, so probably have differing views from you. But I think most Americans would agree at this point, we just want politicians we can believe in. And it's bad on both sides of the aisle, I don't think one group really is any better than the other. All of them are tied to causes and organizations. Once in office it's pay back time. But, I guess it's because America is more divided by it's special interest groups, than it is by our sense of community. Too bad we can't get everyone knitting. Then we could all come together over a mutual obsession.

Thanks for the great review! Al Franken seems to be a very smart, good person. I would love it if he ran.
Al Franken getting in to the Senate would certainly bring some optimism back. He's a genius. I agree that he has to keep himself in check, though. While I think we need someone who will stand up and loudly defend common sense and social responsibility, we don't need anyone to alienate half the population, either. My fingers are crossed!
Bwahaaa. As we speak knitters are infiltrating the highest level of government. Or at least the highest level of documentary making. Maybe I'll just go have a coffee now.
